Om Vishnupad Paramhansa 108 Paramaraddhyatam Srila Bhakti Dayit Madhav Goswami Maharaj was born on 18 November 1904 in the village of Kanchan-para under district of Faridpur on the day of Utthan Ekadasi in East Bengal (now known as Bangladesh).

His father Sree Nishikant Devsharma Banerjee and mother Sreemati Shaivalini Devi gave the name to their child as Heramb Kumar Banerjee.

Village Kanchan Para is situated on the bank of Padma river in the Thana of Bhedar. This is the same river where Lord Gauranga placed prema for Narottam Thakur.

CHILDHOOD

Heramb Kumar Banerjee was a unique child with attributes. His maternal uncle Yasoda Nandan was a rich person. At the age of 4 years child’s father left the world. Mother Shaivalini Devi took child to her brother’s house. There child was brought up.

Child never spoke a lie. He used to ask his friends to speak the truth.

GITA BY HEART

At the age of 11 years Heramb Kumar Banerjee got complete Geeta by heart with help of his mother who was a devotee of Lord Krishna. Mother Shaivalini Devi caused the child to study Srimad Bhagavad-Gita, Ramayana, Mahabharata, etc.

BLESSINGS OF NARADA MUNI

Heramb Kumar Banerjee saw a dream wherein Narada Muni appeared and gave mantra. Guru Maharajjee got mantra but when he awoke he forgot that mantra. Even after refreshing his memory he could not remember.

After getting mantra in his dream from Narada Muni, Heramb Kumar Banerjee realised that human life in meant only for Hari bhajan. He took permission of his mother while she was residing in Durgapur. He came to Haridwar alone to have divine darshan of Lord Krishna. He wondered hither and thither in the forest on the mountains and remained for three days and nights without meal and sleep. Then he heard akashbani (sound from ether): “Where you were earlier your divine master has taken birth. You go back to your own place where you will get your divine master.”

Hearing akashbani he came down to Haridwar from mountain site. He decided to stay for some time in Haridwar.

Here in Haridwar B.D. Madhav Maharaj met a saint and told him about akashbani. Saint advised him to go back to his own house.

MEETING WITH RICH MAN SETHA

He decided to pass some days in pure place of Haridwar. One setha and sethani (rich husband and wife) came to have holy bath and divine darshana of tirtha of Haridwar. They met Heramb Kumar Banerjee and loved him. They requested him to become adopted son as they were without a child. He thought that “I have come leaving my house. Again illusion has come to entice me.” He refused. Yet he went to their house and there he saw huge movable and immovable property but refused to accept.
